Exterior Design Lead

This role is focused on the long-term growth and development of our Exterior Design Team. We're looking for someone who combines strong exterior design expertise with proven people leadership skills.

Your design background allows you to review work thoughtfully and provide clear direction. Your leadership helps designers turn feedback into action, strengthen their judgment, and take ownership of their work while maintaining consistent quality across projects.

What you'll be responsible for

• Mentoring, guiding, and developing the Exterior Design Team, with a focus on building confidence, design judgment, and independence.
• Reviewing work and providing clear, actionable feedback, helping designers understand what to refine and why.
• Maintaining design standards and consistency across projects as the team and project volume grow.
• Anticipating challenges and supporting designers through them, from site conditions and budget alignment to design execution.
• Applying your expertise in exterior design, spatial planning, functionality, and guest experience to every review.
• Collaborating closely with the Creative Lead, Interior Lead, and Managers to create a cohesive vision across each property.
• Contributing directly to design work and staying involved in project development.

What we're looking for

• Proven experience leading and mentoring a team of five or more people, helping designers strengthen their skills and take ownership of their work.
• The ability to communicate clear, actionable design direction in writing and on calls.
• Strong knowledge of exterior design, spatial planning, functionality, and guest experience.
• A proactive approach to identifying challenges, aligning designs with budgets, and supporting team progress.
• Strong SketchUp skills and design expertise to review models, evaluate solutions, and guide refinements.
• Fluent English and confidence collaborating across teams, including with leads and managers.
• At least two years of hospitality design experience.
• At least two years of experience designing for the US market.

The logistics

• In-house position, not a seasonal contract.
• Fully remote, with availability aligned to U.S. Central Time. Overlap matters more in this role than any other, since the team depends on your reviews.
• Fluent English required. Spanish is a plus — a large part of our Design Team is based in Latin America, and you'd be leading a good portion of it.
• Stable internet and a computer that comfortably runs SketchUp on large models.
